Tel Aviv
Explore the City That Never Sleeps
So you think SolarEdge is a high energy company? You're right it is! That means you should be ready to take on the excitement of Tel Aviv! The New York Times calls it the "Mediterranean Capital of Cool."
Tel Aviv is an eclectic mix of everything fun and interesting – cuisine, art, music, shopping, history, business and of course - the beach. While you’re here, try to taste a bit of everything.
Back to the map
Places to see
Walk the beach: with a 7.3 M boardwalk from Jaffa all the way to the Reading electric tower in the north of the city – you can bike, scoot, walk, jog or run – taking breaks at the beach cafés, outdoor gyms, or the saltwater swimming pool, while you enjoy the stunning sea, which is arguably most enjoyable in the January sun.
Visit the Old City: Jaffa’s old city features ancient alleyways that lead to the sea, art galleries, museums (art and history), some eateries, all overlooking the port.
Stroll on Dizengoff: In Hebrew there’s actually a verb “Lehizdangef” which means to enjoy the center of the city. The street is replete with boutiques, outdoor bars and restaurants and is home to the Dizengoff Mall and the Dizengoff Square, where locals sit in the sun with picnics or a bottle of wine.
Explore the Markets: The Carmel Market is home to fresh produce, stalls with jewelry, dead sea products, knick-knacks and souvenirs, and loads of other stuff. Don’t miss the vibrant stalls where you can grab a beer or taste some freshly made kubbeh or local pastry. Spices, Halva, teas, fresh breads and so much more. Walk one block over to Nachalat Binyamin for the Art Market every Tuesday and Friday. Walk out of the market onto Allenby street – and down to King George to find the Bezalel market, for dirt cheap clothes, bags and all kinds of surprises. Walk down Allenby in the other direction for the Levinsky Market – for spices, outdoor cafés and amazing vibes.
Ben Gurion’s House: See the house where the first Prime Minister lived – and worked. An interesting window into the early days of the state.
Take a free city tour: The city of Tel Aviv offers several free tours – click here to learn more about them.
See some architecture: If you like architecture – check out this tour to see some original Bauhaus buildings. And if you feel like exploring on your own – walk down Rothchild, King George, Frug or surrounding streets for some great examples. (and for a surprise Gaudi building – find the Crazy House here.)
Visit a museum: Tel Aviv is home to art, history and nature museums. So many. Here is a list of some of the best, or you can check out the websites of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Eretz Israel Museum, Anu Museum of the Jewish People, Bialik House Museum , the Under One Thousand for local art, or The Ilana Gur Museum.

Moving Around
Some things you should know:
Schedule: Fridays are a day off in Israel, not Sundays. So, for those of you who come early or stay late, know that Friday is the day to have brunch in a café in Florentine, do some shopping with the crowds, or catch a game of volleyball at the beach. Saturdays are the official day of rest and fun; shopping is closed throughout the city except for stores in the Port area, but restaurants and cafes are open everywhere (except if they’re Kosher). If you are into folk dancing, every Saturday there is outdoor, free, folk dancing on the beach near Gordon St.
Excuse our appearance: You’ve happened to visit while we’re in the middle of a serious facelift – we are building a light rail to improve our transportation and making room for more people by adding loads of units. So, forgive us, and don’t be surprised by the construction literally EVERYWHERE.
Getting around: Most of where you want to go in Tel Aviv is rather accessible, and you can get around on your own steam by bike or scooter. If you choose this route – please be careful. Ride on bike lanes or on the road – and don’t forget your helmet. Find out about public transport on the Moovit app and pay by credit card or by setting up an account through the app. Public transportation does not run from Friday evening to Saturday evening – but the city makes up for it with a free shuttle service (info also on Moovit). For taxis, either flag one down in the street or use the Gett taxi or Yango app.
